Tigers will begin AAC play at home

Some of the final pieces of Memphis basketball’s 2022-23 scheduling puzzle are in place.

The American Athletic Conference portion of the Tigers’ schedule dropped Wednesday. Following a challenging 13-game non-conference slate – which features 5 matchups versus SEC groups – Penny Hardaway’s squad will begin league play on Dec. 29, when Memphis welcomes South Florida. That sport will mark the primary time former Tiger guard Tyler Harris will play inside FedExForum as a visiting participant.

Memphis’ first AAC street sport is set for New Year’s Day at Tulane, however doubtlessly the team’s most troublesome stretch has been saved for final. Beginning Feb. 19, the Tigers will face Houston on the street, followed by a recreation at Wichita State (Feb. 23). Memphis welcomes Cincinnati on Feb. 26, travels to SMU on March 2, then hosts Houston on March 5.

In addition to the full AAC schedule, the Tigers – coming off their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014 – announced broadcast details and tip-off occasions for many of their games this season. A select few, including the first two games of the regular season (at Vanderbilt and at Saint Louis), might be introduced at a later date.

The AAC Tournament shall be played March 9-12 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The majority of Memphis’ games will be featured on the ESPN household of networks, the regular-season finale against Houston at house being one of many few exceptions. That game will air on CBS. At least nine video games (including five AAC contests) will stream stay on ESPN+.

The Tigers finished 22-11 final season and 13-5 in AAC play, good enough for third place.
