Archetypal arcade driving game Ridge Racer Type 4 is heading to modern PlayStation consoles for those with a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.
Originally launched on the first PlayStation in 1998, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, as it was called in some markets, set the template for a slick, drift-heavy, racing experience – following on from the series’ Japanese arcade cupboard lineage.
Namco’s classic introduced groups and featured a drop-dead attractive opening CGI intro, which I even have distinct reminiscences of seeing for the primary time enjoying on a demo unit in a retail retailer.
The addition follows its publisher’s determination to resume Ridge Racer trademarks in 2021 and the discharge of the PlayStation Portable Ridge Racer 2 for the subscription service in December 2022.
PlayStation Plus Premium supplies PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 subscribers to entry a library of PlayStation Classics, over and above decrease, cheaper, tiers of the service.
Ridge Racer Type 4 will be out there for download from 21st March 2023.
