History

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Opening up Southeastern Conference play on Friday night, the Mississippi State Bulldogs got here up short in further innings, as Kentucky picked up the victory in the tenth by a rating of 6-5.
 
Kentucky (16-2) struck first in Friday’s contest, as the Wildcats put up a four-run first inning. Mississippi State (13-6) would strike again, scratching one run in the third and fourth and finally taking the lead within the fifth. The Wildcats would tie the game up in the eighth, sending the sport to further innings.
 
Jurrangelo Cijntje started on the bump for the Diamond Dawgs. He went 5 innings, hanging out six and allowing solely two hits. KC Hunt was the first out of the pen, working two innings and selecting up four strikeouts. Nate Dohm was charged with his second loss on the year after hanging out 5 in 2.2 innings.
 
Kellum Clark led the offense for the Diamond Dawgs. He drove in three runs for the Bulldogs on a 2-for-4 day, including a solo residence run. Slate Alford picked up two hits in the contest as nicely.
 
The Diamond Dawgs are again in motion Saturday for sport two of the series towards Kentucky. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT with the sport broadcasted on SECN+.

Jackson Gray scored after Pitre was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Ryan Waldschmidt singled to right to push Burkes and Felker throughout. James McCoy laid a sac bunt down to score Pitre.

Luke Hancock drew a bases-loaded walk to drive Alford throughout the plate.

Hunter Hines reached on an error that scored Chance from third. Kellum Clark knocked a two-RBI single to middle to offer the Bulldogs the lead.
